Cassandra Hennessey

Land Acquisition Coordinator

Cassandra Hennessey, originally from Burlington, Nova Scotia, moved to Prince Edward Island to pursue her passion for wildlife conservation through Holland College’s Wildlife Conservation Technology Program. Upon completion of the program, Cassandra joined Island Nature Trust in April 2023 as a Conservation Technician. In September of 2023, she moved into the role of Private Stewardship Coordinator, guiding private landowners through the process of protecting their properties under the Natural Areas Protection Act.

Currently serving as the Land Acquisition Coordinator, Cassandra is dedicated to identifying and securing ecologically significant properties and drafting legal documents to ensure their protection in perpetuity. She is excited to continue contributing to the Trust’s mission of conserving larger, contiguous natural areas for future generations.

Outside of work, Cassandra enjoys fishing, hiking, and spending time at the barn with her three horses. Once competitive in the Hunter/Jumper world, she now enjoys a blend of leisurely trail rides, training young horses, and helping younger riders learn to love the horse first and the sport second.
