Kate Teed

Coastal Conservation Coordinator

Kate is originally from the Niagara Region of Ontario, sandwiched between Lake Ontario and Lake Erie. She grew up surrounded by infinite fields of vineyards and exploring the impressive Niagara Escarpment. Family roots on the island allowed her to spend many summers walking the beaches at Argyle Shore, providing an introduction to the dynamic coastal ecosystems here on PEI. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree (Hons.) in Environmental Science from Queen’s University and a Graduate Certificate in Ecosystem Restoration from Niagara College. After finishing school in Ontario, Kate heard the ocean calling and moved to PEI in 2023 where she joined the coastal team at Island Nature Trust (INT). Throughout her time at INT, she has been able to expand her passion for coastal ecology and wildlife conservation, and she is so grateful to spend her days advocating and protecting coastal species at risk.

In her spare time, she can be found looking for hidden treasure at the thrift store, reading historical or contemporary fiction, having a laugh with friends or enjoying a diet coke at the movie theatre!
